Who am I? I established Candid in October 2011, and since that time the company has gathered the respect and confidence of many clients, many of whom return for further work and recommend Candid to others. I’m originally from Aberaeron, west Wales, and moved to Cardiff in 2007 to study Architectural Design at Cardiff University, followed by achieving a Master of Design in Communication. I am a fluent Welsh speaker.
What I love about Penarth. Community has always been important to me, to have the feeling of being a part of something – you certainly do get that in Penarth! There’s a great community of business owners, neighbours and friends in the town that makes it a pleasure to be based here. Not to mention the parks, the examples of Art Deco architecture and the Pier Pavilion.
What is the best part of being a Graphic Designer? It’s the clients! It’s helping clients to fulfil their dreams – it’s such a great feeling. The journey from the initial consultation where we come to learn about the client’s hopes and desired to the final product is a roller-coaster, but the sense of achievement at the end is really humbling.
What most people don’t know about me. I’m currently renovating the home I own with my partner. and secretly harbour desires of being an interior designer. There’s a great deal to be said for spending hours trying to choose a colour scheme for a room – “that grey is too grey”.
Where you will find me outside of Candid HQ? Twice a day, as regular as clockwork, you’ll see me walking through Penarth’s beautiful leafy parks, or battling the wind on Cardiff Bay Barrage with a little black Cairn terrier in tow – Winston, the second love of my life.
Who am I? My background is in Fashion Design and marketing, over the past five years I taken on numerous freelance projects and been developing my graphic design skills. I joined Candid in 2016 as I was eager to work alongside likeminded people and for the opportunity to work with some fantastic local businesses.
What I love about Penarth. I love the strong sense of community within the town and the passion of the independent businesses which thrive off the support of each other. There is always something going on in the town it’s a very inspiring place to work as it’s saturated with beautiful architecture and local history from the Paget rooms to the Pier.
What is the best part of being a Graphic Designer? I have always been intrigued and very passionate about the power of design. I see the world in a creative light and feel a sense of pride when I see the positive effect that good branding and design can have on a business. There is nothing more satisfying than conceiving a brand or breathing life into an old one and seeing it thrive and grow.
There is never a dull day in the office as the job is so diverse and I get to meet and work with some great people- as well as explore the local coffee houses!
What most people don’t know about me. I am a huge coffee addict! One of my favourite things is to catch up with friends or chill out over a steaming latte.
Where you will find me outside of Candid HQ? Aswel as drinking coffee outside of Candid HQ you may find me on the water either windsurfing or paddle boarding. After my degree I worked abroad for a few years managing a beach and teaching windsurfing, though I am prone to the odd bar of chocolate infront of a riveting film too.
