To mark its 100-year anniversary, Penarth Operatic & Dramatic Society commissioned an exhibition celebrating a century of performance, people and community involvement. The aim was to bring the society’s rich history to life in a way that felt accessible, engaging and respectful of its long-standing cultural role in the town.
Candid Creative Studio was responsible for designing the exhibition graphics, translating a vast archive of material into a clear, structured visual narrative. One hundred years of history were carefully documented year by year, curated and laid out across large-format exhibition boards and hanging paper panels. The design approach focused on clarity, consistency and rhythm, allowing visitors to move through the timeline intuitively while discovering key moments, productions and people along the way.
The finished exhibition created a strong sense of continuity and collective memory, turning archival material into a shared public story. It’s an example of design as documentation — using structure, typography and layout to honour history, support storytelling and make a century of community-led creativity visible and meaningful to a contemporary audience.
